Northstone owns and operates the Elmworth Generating Station, a strategically located natural gas-fired facility in northwestern Alberta. The site is powered by two Wärtsilä 20V34SG generating units, each with a capacity of 9.3 MW, providing a total of 18.6 MW of flexible and efficient power generation. These units are specifically designed for fast ramping, enabling rapid response to market demand with full-load capability in just 6–8 minutes. Their high availability and quick-start flexibility make them ideal for peaking power applications. Additionally, the units are hydrogen-blend capable, aligning with evolving energy transition goals and potential future decarbonization strategies.
